Project Description:

The Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology allocated funding from the Community Development Funds arising from the accidental spill/discharge of water containing sodium cyanide by Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, Ahafo South concession, towards the cost of upgrading the central market and lorry park at Kenyasi No.2 and intended to apply a portion of this fund to eligible payments under this contract reference number MEST/AD/19.

Baseline condition of the Market

The Consultant was responsible for undertaking detailed engineering designs and preparation of tender documents and to provide construction supervision services for the upgrading of the central market and Lorry Park.

The consultancy services required included:

  1.  Baseline socio-economic and willingness to pay survey;
  2.  Environmental and Social Impact Assessment
  3. Studies which included survey of Project Affected Persons;
  4.  Facilitation of Community Engagement
  5.  Preparation of an Environmental and Social Management Plan including gender assessment
  6. for the proposed civil works
  7.  Engineering studies;
  8.  Conceptual  and Detailed Design for market/lorry station

(including layout of the market and lorry park);

Design of related infrastructure (roads, drainage, etc);

Preparation of Drawings;  Preparation of Bill of Quantities; and  Preparation of Tender Documents.

Assistance to the Client during tendering process;  Preparation of Contract Documents and

Reporting and supervision of construction works.
