Project Description:

The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) intended to expand the maritime facilities in accordance with the projected demand on port facilities. In view of this, the Authority contracted Louis Berger/Transtech Consult to undertake the feasibility study and detailed designs of the main access road expansion programme for the Port of Tema.

The project involved the feasibility studies, detailed engineering studies, detailed engineering design and tender documents preparation of approximately 14km new dedicated expressway from the western end of the new port enclave to the existing  Tema-Accra Motorway, 7.5km Meridian/Beach Road, 6.0km Harbour Highway linking the central port entry gate to the existing Tema motorway roundabout and 6.5km local roads within the commercial and off-dock terminals and commercial warehousing area of the port area linking the meridian road and the Beach road.

As part of the project, a social and environmental scoping report was prepared in line with L.I.1625 as well as Property Impact Assessment.
